What is the difference between the terms FDA approved and FDA indicated? +
FDA approved means it is recognized as safe for a certain purpose and it is backed by evidence of efficacy. FDA indicated has greater significance. It means it is clinically proven to do something specific and that the studies have been peer-reviewed.

What does a Picosure treatment feel like? +
As the laser’s energy is applied to your skin in a feathering motion, you will experience a hot snapping sensation. Cold air is applied for comfort and some people choose to take some Advil or Tylenol prior to their treatment. For most people the treatment is well tolerated and quite comfortable. If desired we can also apply numbing cream for added comfort.

After the treatment, your skin will feel like it has a sunburn but this typically resolves in less than 24 hours. Your skin may be slightly pink and there may be some mild swelling. This usually resolved within 1 to 3 hours but occasionally may linger for a day. There may be slight darkening (bronzing) of the skin noticeable for 3 to 10 days post-treatment. For most people, this treatment has virtually no downtime.

Is the pigment gone instantly after PicoToning? +
Unwanted pigment will generally darken after the treatment and may turn 2-3 shades darker than the original color. This will shed over time, usually within two weeks. The most unwanted pigment will significantly lighten or clear in 2 or 3 sessions.

Are the wrinkles and acne scars gone instantly after Picosure Skin Revitalization? +
Collagen remodeling takes time. The treatments in your series will be repeated at 2 to 4-week intervals. As with all treatments that are dependent on a healing response, results vary from person to person. The best result will be seen 3 to 4 months after the last treatment in your series.

If Picosure isn’t “thermal” why does it feel hot? +
The pressure waves of Picosure’s pico-second delivery of energy is so fast that the friction of the delivery of the energy does, indeed, feel hot. The skin, however, recognizes the difference between heat and friction so the normal risks associated with heat are eliminated.

Do I have to avoid sun exposure before or after a Picosure treatment? +
Avoid unprotected sun exposure for a minimum of 7 to 10 days prior to your Picosure treatment. Avoid sun exposure between treatments. Nothing ages the skin or causes unwanted pigment more than sun exposure. For this reason, we encourage everyone to always wear SPF30 or greater when in the sun. It makes no sense to have anti-aging laser treatments and then undo the benefits of unprotected sun exposure.

How long will the results from Picosure Skin Revitalization last? +
The anti-aging results you experience will be long lasting but unfortunately, we cannot stop the effects on the skin caused by the aging process which will continue. We recommend that you either repeat a single treatment every six months to maintain or compound the results or alternatively you may wish to repeat the series of treatments every two to three years.

Picosure facial treatments begin at $495 single treatment for full Skin Revitalization. The cost per treatment decreases with package discounts for series. Pricing varies depending on the size and number of areas being treated and the number of treatments purchased in a series.
